The no-surprises guide to staying with Bower & Beck. If it's not here, just ask — we reply fast.
Booking & paying direct
Why book direct instead of Airbnb or Booking.com?
Booking direct always gets you our best price — the platforms add their own service fees on top. You also deal with us personally from the first message, and it's easier for us to say yes to small requests like early check-in or an extra travel cot.
Is booking direct secure?
Yes — availability, pricing and payment all run through our secure booking system, with card payments handled by an encrypted payment provider. You'll receive confirmation straight away, and everything you need for arrival before check-in day.
What if our plans change?
We keep cancellation flexible — the exact terms for your dates are shown clearly before you confirm, with no hidden fees at any point. If something changes, message us as early as you can and we'll do our best to help.
Arriving & staying
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am at all three lodges. Early check-in or late check-out is sometimes possible for a small charge, subject to the cleaning schedule — message us ahead and we'll do our best.
How does check-in work?
Every lodge is fully self check-in — a lockbox at the door with your unique code sent shortly before arrival, along with a welcome guide, directions and a what3words pin. No waiting around with tired kids, and we're a message away if anything comes up.
What's provided?
Bed linens, towels and a fully equipped kitchen with cooking basics at every lodge — plus a welcome treat on arrival (guests mention it more than almost anything else). Travel cots are available for little ones; just ask when booking.
Is there parking?
Yes — private parking at every lodge: two spaces at The Lake House, and parking right outside the door at The Debonair and The Sahara.
Can we barbecue?
Sorry, no — barbecues of any kind (including disposables) aren't permitted at any of our lodges or on the surrounding decking and grounds, under park rules. Each lodge has a great eating-out option within a short walk instead.
Families & dogs
Are the lodges really family-friendly?
It's who we design for. Every lodge sleeps up to six across a king room, a twin room and a sofa bed, with board games, Smart TVs, safe grounds to explore and travel cots available. The parks are quiet and gated, and our itinerary guides on each lodge page are built around little legs.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes — dogs are welcome at all three lodges, up to two as standard. At The Debonair they stay free. At The Lake House and The Sahara it's £40, settled after booking. That's the whole fee at each — nothing else gets added later. Bringing more than two? Message us first. Everywhere, we ask that dogs stay off the furniture and aren't left alone in the lodge.
Which lodge is right for us?
Want to park once and walk everywhere — lake, boats, restaurants, Beatrix Potter? The Lake House in Bowness. Want a pool, a lakeside restaurant and day trips in every direction — Lakes, Dales, coast? The Debonair (two bathrooms, ensuite master) or The Sahara (the dog-and-kids all-rounder).
On the parks
How does the pool work at The Debonair and The Sahara?
The Pure Leisure Club — a 15-metre heated indoor pool, steam room and gym — is a short walk from both lodges. It's pay-as-you-go: day and week passes from park reception, around £25 for a family of four for a day (check current prices on arrival).
Can we eat out without driving?
Yes, at every lodge. From The Lake House, the restaurants and pubs of Bowness are five minutes on foot, plus Fallbarrow Park's own restaurant and bar. At The Debonair and The Sahara, Waters Edge Restaurant & Bar serves lakeside Mediterranean dining a short walk away.
Is there a spa?
At South Lakeland Leisure Village (The Debonair and The Sahara), the Pure Essence Spa offers treatments and therapies — pre-booking recommended, and worth building into a slow day mid-week.
