Cookie Policy
This page explains what this website stores on your device, what it loads from other companies, and how to change your mind. Last reviewed 2 September 2026.
The short version
We set no advertising cookies and no cookies at all unless you accept optional analytics. Visits are counted with a cookieless tool. Booking and payment happen on pages run by our booking provider, which uses its own technologies under its own policies.
Strictly necessary
Nothing on this site needs a cookie in order to work, so we do not set any. We do keep three small notes in your browser's own local storage, on your device only:
- Your cookie choice — whether you accepted or declined optional analytics, so we stop asking. Kept until you clear your browser data or change your choice.
- Whether our offer pop-up has already been shown — so you only ever see it once.
- Whether you have joined our email list — so we show you a link to check dates instead of asking you to sign up again.
For the length of a single browsing session only, we also keep any campaign information in the link you arrived on — for example a Google Ads click reference or a utm_source tag — together with a one-word note of how the visit began (search, referral, ads or direct). If you send an enquiry or sign up, that note travels with it so we know which pages are working. It is discarded when you close the tab.
Analytics
- Plausible — always on, no consent needed. Counts page views and a few on-site actions, such as a booking widget being viewed or an enquiry being sent. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not follow you to other websites, which is why UK rules do not require consent for it.
- Google Analytics 4 — optional, off unless you accept. If you press Accept, we load Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (their names begin
_ga) to recognise a returning browser and group visits into sessions. We turn on IP anonymisation. Press Decline and it is never loaded, so no Google Analytics cookie is set.
Other services these pages load
- Google Fonts — our typefaces are served by Google. No cookies are set, but Google receives your IP address in order to deliver the font files.
- Netlify — hosts this website and receives whatever you type into our contact, newsletter and guest-guide forms.
- Hospitable — the availability and booking panel on the homepage and each lodge page is a window served by our booking provider, Hospitable, from its own address. Anything it stores is set by Hospitable, not by us.
Booking and payment happen on someone else's pages
When you choose dates and continue, you leave this website for Hospitable's secure booking pages. If you buy an add-on such as an early check-in, you are sent to a payment page hosted by Stripe. Both companies use their own cookies, storage and analytics on their own pages — including, in Hospitable's case, session-recording and payment technology that we neither control nor receive. Their own cookie and privacy notices govern those pages. We mention it here because the journey starts on our site, not because those technologies are ours.
Resend, which sends our emails, works entirely on our servers and places nothing in your browser.
Changing your mind
Select Cookie settings at the foot of any page to bring the banner back and switch between Accept and Decline. Declining stops optional analytics loading from that moment; any cookie already set by Google Analytics can be removed in your browser settings, where you can also block or delete cookies for any site.
