The Debonair

A contemporary lodge designed for effortless family escapes — with the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the coast all within easy reach.

Built around easy evenings.

A brand-new lodge in The Yealands — the newest, quietest corner of South Lakeland Leisure Village — designed for the kind of evening you lose track of.

There's a fire, and sofas you sink into. Patio doors open straight onto the decking for the morning coffee and the evening one. And the farmhouse table seats all six properly — no perching, no one stuck on the corner.

The master king has an upholstered headboard and its own ensuite; the twin room gives the kids their own base; a sofa bed sleeps one more. Central heating and double glazing keep it warm whatever the northern weather is doing.

On the park you've got the Pure Leisure Club — a 15-metre heated indoor pool, steam room and gym — plus the Pure Essence Spa and Waters Edge, the lakeside restaurant for the night nobody cooks. And because you're five minutes off the M6, you're unpacking while other families are still queueing on the A591.

Arrive & settle

Morning

An easy drive — you're five minutes off the M6, so no crawling up the A591. Swing into Booths in Carnforth for supplies.

Afternoon

Self check-in from 4pm with the smart lockbox. Straight in, kettle on, kids exploring the deck.

Evening

Dinner at Waters Edge, the lakeside restaurant a short walk away — then a first evening by the stove-effect fire.

Day two

Pool & paws

Morning

Heated indoor pool at the Pure Leisure Club — day passes from park reception. Steam room for whoever isn't on lifeguard duty.

Afternoon

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, ten minutes away — snow leopards, meerkats and hands-on sessions the kids will talk about all week.

Evening

Dinner at the farmhouse table, then the board games cupboard comes out. Kids to the twin room; you to the ensuite.

Day three

Windermere day

Morning

Thirty-five minutes to Bowness-on-Windermere — lake cruise first, while everyone's fresh.

Afternoon

The World of Beatrix Potter, rowing boats, or just ice cream by the pier — Windermere does the entertaining.

Evening

Back for a deck evening — the estuary skies do their thing while dinner's on.

Day five

Seaside classic

Morning

Morecambe, twenty minutes: the prom, a statue selfie with Eric, and the Stone Jetty.

Afternoon

Happy Mount Park's playground and splash park, then Brucciani's ice cream — non-negotiable.

Slow day

Morning

Nowhere to be. Long breakfast at the farmhouse table, coffee on the decking, another swim if the kids insist (they will).

Afternoon

Pre-book a treatment at the Pure Essence Spa while the other grown-up takes the kids to Greenlands Farm Village, ten minutes away.

Evening

Fire on, film on, takeaway from Carnforth. Holidays need a day like this.

Day five

Yorkshire Dales day

Morning

Half an hour to Ingleton — the Waterfalls Trail for bigger kids, or White Scar Cave's underground world for everyone.

Afternoon

Picnic near Ribblehead Viaduct and wave at the trains, or tearooms in Settle if the weather turns.

Evening

Slow evening back at the lodge — kids flat out, sofa and stove for you.

Day six

Estuary & Arnside

Morning

Fifteen minutes to Arnside: climb Arnside Knott — short enough for little legs, with huge views over the Kent Estuary.

Afternoon

RSPB Leighton Moss — family trails, pond dipping and red deer if you're lucky.

Evening

Fish & chips on Arnside prom watching the tide race in, or back to the deck for sunset.

Day seven

Seaside send-off

Morning

Morecambe: the prom, a statue selfie with Eric, penny arcades and the Stone Jetty.

Afternoon

Lancaster if you fancy one more adventure — Williamson Park's butterfly house under the Ashton Memorial dome. Or one last swim.

Evening

Farewell dinner at Waters Edge, last lake loop, and a suspiciously easy bedtime. Checkout's at 10am.

Good to know

The questions families ask us most about The Debonair.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am. It's fully self check-in — a lockbox at the lodge with your unique code sent just before arrival, along with a full welcome guide and directions. Early check-in or late check-out is sometimes possible for a small charge, subject to the cleaning schedule — message us ahead.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes — and they stay free here. Up to two dogs, no fee, nothing to settle later. Bringing more than two? Message us first. We ask that they stay off the furniture and aren't left unattended in the lodge. There's decking for morning sniffs, a lake path on the doorstep and the Silverdale & Arnside AONB fifteen minutes away for the big walk.
How does the pool work, and what does it cost?
The Pure Leisure Club — a 15-metre heated indoor pool, steam room and gym — is a short walk away on the park. It's pay-as-you-go: day and week passes from park reception (roughly £25 for a family of four for a day; check current prices on arrival). If your kids are swimmers, budget for it — families consistently tell us it's the best money they spend here.
How far are the Lakes, the Dales and the coast?
You're five minutes from the M6, which makes everything easy: Carnforth 5 minutes, Silverdale & Arnside AONB 15, Morecambe, Lancaster and Kendal about 20, Lake Windermere and the Yorkshire Dales both around 30–35. It's a genuine explore-everywhere base.
What's provided for our stay?
Bed linens, towels and a fully equipped kitchen — full oven, hob, microwave and integrated fridge-freezer — plus a Smart TV with Netflix, a board games cupboard and a travel cot on request. Booths and Aldi are five minutes away in Carnforth for the big shop.
Can we eat out without driving?
Yes — Waters Edge Restaurant and Bar is a short walk across the park, serving a Mediterranean menu by the lake with an outdoor terrace. The Pure Essence Spa is nearby too (pre-booking recommended for treatments).
Can we barbecue at the lodge?
Sorry, no — barbecues of any kind (including disposables) aren't permitted at the lodge, on the decking or anywhere on the grounds, under park rules.
